Tips from the Top

I have always loved to talk training and have been interested in knowing why I do what what I do. “Tips from the top” will have something for beginners to elites. The goal is to focus on creating a well-rounded runner, that is consistent, strong, and happy because they are training smart.

Long-time distance coach Robert Sevene is the main contributor and has over 40 years of coaching experience with elites and the public. He has proven he can coach almost any distance from the 800 to the marathon, men or women. Although he is best known for coaching Joan Benoit Samuelson to the Olympic gold medal in the first ever women’s marathon in 1984, he is proud of all his athletes and can tell you all of their PR’s. He has been coaching post-collegiates for the past 20 years, but has also been Head Coach of the famed Nike Athletics West Club, and been Coach of the Year for Div 1, 2 and 3. A Boston-bred coaching legend…nuff said.
