So, I am at it again. I rallied, regrouped, and trained for another marathon. I say trained because it’s taper time, and all the training is done, the money is in the bank, the hay is the barn…well, you get it. It took me a while to decide what to do after my NYC blowup, but once I wrapped my head around LA and the USA Marathon Championships I got more and more excited.
Training was really different this time. I decided to experiment with things I always wanted to try. Schedules, mileage, workouts…basically everything changed. The only thing that felt the same was the fact that I was putting one foot in front of the other. I have to say, I am not completely sure what to expect, but I feel really good and prepared.
I have been enjoying some taper time, but I can’t seem to sit still with all this extra energy. I actually feel a bit manic and am driving everyone around me crazy. I have been in mad cleaning mode so much so, that it is like I am in the last few weeks of pregnancy. I have cleaned all of our closets, painted the kids’ rooms, re-decorated a bit, and taken 8000 bags of things to Goodwill. The kids are enjoying my taper mania and come running as soon as they hear the blender turn on. I normally don’t do well with down time even with high mileage, so this is killing me. This marathon needs to get here, so I can rest! Best of luck to everyone toeing the line in LA on March 15th. Go hard or go home!
